I think I finally decided on a New Year’s resolution…
To not allow myself or others to attempt to engage in an important conversation over text.
- James Borg: states that human communication consists of 93 percent body language and paralinguistic cues, while only 7% of communication consists of words themselves
- Albert Mehrabian: Experts in the field of communication often quote the 55/38/7 “rule” that states, “research has shown that people derive only about 7% of the meaning of a communication from the words themselves which the speaker uses (verbalized emotion), about 38% is based on tone of voice, and a whopping 55% from the speaker’s body language.”
FYI guys, stop relying on your thumbs.
